Climate Action Reserve's Mexico Forest Protocol explained
The Mexico Forest Protocol (MFP), developed by the Climate Action Reserve (CAR), provides a framework for forest projects in Mexico to enhance carbon sequestration. It sets clear guidelines to ensure projects deliver real and measurable climate benefits.
Through the MFP, projects can generate Climate Reserve Tonnes (CRTs), verified carbon credits representing quantifiable reductions in greenhouse gas emissions. Beyond carbon, MFP projects often provide additional environmental and social benefits, such as biodiversity conservation, soil protection, and community engagement.
